Frequently asked questions.
What does your grooming setup in my home look like?
We’ll do a quick tour of your home during the consultation to get an idea of what areas would be a good place to set up. A cleared section against a wall is ideal with easy access to at least one outlet and direct lighting. We’ll also take a look at your tub/sink for bathing options, if needed.
During your first service appointment, I’ll ask you to be present for the entire session in case I need your input. I’ll set up my grooming table and my rolling box of grooming supplies. You’ll want to supply the towels. You do not need to be present for the entire service for future service appointments. Many clients leave options to access the home in the event you are at work or out and about.
What happens during a consultation?
I’ll ask you a few questions regarding your dog’s background and behavior.
We’ll take a quick look around your home for good spots that can serve as a grooming space.
I’ll run through a few handling exercises with your dog.
I’ll then make recommendations for services and give price quotes based on my assessment. You can then pre-book your first appointment with me at the end of our session if you’d like to get in sooner than later!
*For an extra fee, I can answer dog-related training/behavior questions that are outside the subject of grooming.
What areas do you service?
Ballard, Queen Anne, Magnolia in Seattle, WA and surrounding neighborhoods within a 5-mile radius. If you would like to see if you are within the 5 mile radius, input “Salmon Bay K-8 School” in Ballard as first location and your address for the destination. If it is higher than 5 miles, you are outside of service radius.
If you are past 5 miles but under 8 miles, you can still access my services with an additional transportation fee. One can be provided for you at time of inquiry based on your location.
What are your hours?
All services are by appointment only. Appointments vary depending on schedule availability from week-to-week.
General hours are Monday-Friday from 9am-4pm.
“Cardi loves Jasmine so much that she jumps up on the grooming table on her own now! We've been happy clients for 5+ years and highly recommend working with Groom Positive.”

My dog is overdue for grooming and/or severely matted? Could you start right away?
Ideally, I don’t start initial service for a new client with a matted shavedown as this builds a negative association with me right away instead of a positive foundation. I’ll recommend you get a shavedown elsewhere before starting service with Groom Positive. Once your dog is on my client list, I’ll recommend that you stay on a pre-booked schedule to avoid overdue/severely matted situations. This is because regularly bring your dog to grooming matted causes dogs to have fear, anxiety, and stress around grooming because shaving out mats can be painful.
If you need grooming immediately, my recommendation would be to get medical grooming with your vet or with your previous groomer first before a consultation is done with Groom Positive.
Do you take large or extra large dogs?
No, currently I only take dogs 35 lbs or under.
What forms of payment do you accept?
Cash, check, or Venmo. Payment for service is due one week in advance to keep your service appointment.
